Why join us?

We are a well-established local, family and veteran owned cleaning and remediation business serving NW Indiana since 1984. We foster a culture of being service driven, family oriented, and focused on providing the best experience possible for our customers and our community. We offer services related to water extraction, structural drying, mold remediation, carpet cleaning, air duct cleaning, and general janitorial or cleaning services. With rising demand in Northwest Indiana due to growth, real estate trends, and flooding and water intrusion, this is an immediate-growth role with opportunities for advancement into senior technician and leadership tracks. You’ll do meaningful, hands-on work that restores properties, protects occupants’ health, and supports property managers and realtors through fast, professional responses.

Position Summary

As a Water Extraction & Mold Remediation Technician you will be a front-line problem solver: extract water, set and monitor drying systems, perform mold containment and removal, and deliver professional carpet cleaning and remediation services. You’ll work independently on job sites and alongside other technicians. The ideal candidate brings restoration experience, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work both without supervision, or as part of the larger team. We strongly prefer candidates with IICRC (or equivalent) certification in water and mold remediation. Carpet cleaning is an essential function of this position so experience in carpet cleaning is necessary. Experience in air duct cleaning or construction/light demolition work is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Water Extraction & Drying

  • Arrive on site promptly, perform damage assessments and begin extraction using pumps, wands and specialty equipment.
  • Set up and balance drying systems (air movers, dehumidifiers, specialty injectidry or drying chambers).
  • Take and record moisture readings (walls, floors, contents) and update job documentation regularly.

Mold Remediation

  • Establish containment (negative pressure, barriers), remove contaminated materials per scope, and apply antimicrobial products per protocol.
  • Follow IICRC/industry procedures and OSHA guidelines for PPE, disposal, and site safety.
  • Produce before/after documentation and clear work areas for customer/inspector review.

Carpet Cleaning & Related Services

  • Operate truck-mount or portable carpet cleaning equipment, perform restorative cleaning and stain treatments.
  • Provide basic air duct cleaning support or assist with demolition/repair tasks as needed.

Customer Service & Communication

  • Explain the process, timelines and expectations to customers (homeowners, property managers, realtors).
  • Maintain professional communication with office staff; provide photo and report updates that support invoicing and insurance claims.

General Duties

  • Maintain and inspect tools/equipment; keep company vehicle clean and stocked.
  • Timely complete paperwork as required; log hours and job notes.
  • Be available for emergency callouts and support after-hours response.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in water extraction, structural drying, or mold remediation (or equivalent restoration experience).
  • Required: Professional carpet cleaning experience (truck-mount or portable systems).
  • Required: Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in tight/attic/crawlspace environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; acceptable driving record.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; ability to professionally interact with customers and partners.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with close attention to safety and detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IICRC certifications such as WRT (Water Restoration Technician) and AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician). Additional IICRC certifications a plus (ASD, ССТ).
  • Experience with air duct cleaning, basic reconstruction, demolition, or carpentry.
  • Familiarity with industry job software and moisture meters / infrared cameras.
  • Prior experience working with insurance claims and project documentation.

Physical & Work Conditions

  • Frequent lifting (50+ lbs), climbing (ladders), bending, crawling (crawlspaces), and working in variable temperatures and humidity.
  • PPE required on all remediation sites (N95/respirator, gloves, eye protection, suits as needed).
  • Work will involve exposure to mold, water, dust, and construction debris – strict adherence to safety protocols is required.

What we offer

  • Hourly pay of $22-$30/hr (depending on experience and certifications).
  • Health insurance and retirement contributions may be available for the right candidate.
  • Paid training and certification support – we invest in IICRC courses for motivated technicians.
  • Opportunities for growth into lead technician, estimator, or operations roles as we expand.
