How frequently should I get my tile and grout professionally cleaned?

Tile flooring is the perfect, durable solution for the parts of your home that see the most mess. While daily maintenance is often enough to keep your tile and grout in working order, a professional cleaning can often make the difference in getting your kitchens and bathrooms looking pristine. At Master Clean, we have the knowledge and experience to handle everything from small messes to big emergencies, so you know that you’ll see the results.

Why tile flooring?

Tile flooring, while it comes in many forms, can refer broadly to any hard flooring that’s made up of panels pieced together with grout. However, tile is most commonly made of ceramic or porcelain. As a flooring, well-installed tile can last for over 20 years, and is relatively low maintenance.

How do you take care of tile?

Taking care of a tile flooring on a day-to-day basis is often as simple as wiping spills as they appear. The writers at Better Homes and Gardens recommend using a rag or chamois mop on porcelain and ceramic tiles.

When cleaning at home, it’s important to make sure that you don’t leave any water or soapy residue behind. Soap can be a hazard to those walking through your tiled spaces, and it can even leave a hazy film visible on your tiles. You can remove the film with certain all-purpose cleaners, but it’s best to simply avoid the issue altogether by drying the floors right away.

However, Forbes Home recommends taking the time to do a deep cleaning every two to three months or so, in order to scrub the grout in between tiles. While it’s possible to do a fairly thorough cleaning by hand, professionals have the tools to clean tile and grout more thoroughly than tools at home allow, and it’s recommended that you schedule a professional cleaning about once every 9-12 months or so. This is where Master Clean comes in.

Getting professional cleaning

Deep cleaning tiles can be arduous work. To truly get stains out, you’ll want to apply a paste of baking soda and water to any stains in the grout and leave it to sit overnight. After the cleaner has done its job, you’ll need to get to work with a scrub brush.

Cleaning grout by hand is tough work, and in addition to being time-consuming, it can leave you with sore arms and knees. Hiring a professional, on the other hand, allows you to sit back and relax while an expert job is done.

Master Clean’s tile cleaning process starts with an assessment of your flooring, so that our professionals know what they’re working with. We use specially-formulated cleaners to safely clean your tile and grout. Our formula is effective at loosening dirt and stains, leaving your tile and grout looking its best. Afterward, we’ll do a quick post-cleaning inspection, just to make sure that we’ve done a thorough job.
